Trails Of
Encouragement
Get Involved
Becoming an Encourager on the trail is something anyone at any age can do! We're so happy that you want to take time in your day to actively show empathy on this crazy trail we call life.
Here are three simple actions you can easily take today
Write a Note
Handwriting a note or sending a text to a loved one or an old friend are great ways to let them know
Another way of getting a kind message across is by creating a nice message on paper and placing them on cars or in a mailbox.
Smile
Smiling is one of the easiest ways to let another person know you care and a great way to make yourself feel good too.
Studies have found that one smile generates the same level of brain stimulation as up to 2,000 bars of chocolate.
Listen & Care
Being able to notice when a loved one, peer or stranger is feeling a little off can help save a life.
Actively listening and showing comfort during hardship shows you can be trusted to give a helping hand when needed the most.
Take ACTION
A = Acknowledge the warning signs. (Suicide notes, threats, depression, hurting oneself, changes that are sudden.)
C = Care and Concern. Listen to their feelings and offer hope.
T = Tell an adult. DO NOT wait or be afraid to take action.
I = Information. Learn more from the resources available.
O = Ongoing support from your school or church. Ask if there is a crisis team or a group to talk to.
N = NO DEALS. Never keep a secret about their plans. You have to tell and save your friend
